Mr Ankur Mukherjee

Mr. Ankur Mukherjee is a fellowship-trained Robotic Urological Surgeon with specialist expertise in urological cancers, particularly those involving the prostate and bladder. After completing his urological training, he was selected for the highly prestigious robotic surgery fellowship at University College London Hospitals (UCLH)—the UK’s highest-volume centre for robotic pelvic cancer surgery and an internationally renowned institution. He trained under Professor Greg Shaw, learning the innovative Complete Urethral Preservation (CUP) technique to enhance functional outcomes following robotic prostatectomy. In addition to his subspecialist focus, Mr. Mukherjee has extensive experience managing a broad spectrum of general urological conditions, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, testicular lumps and pain, haematuria (blood in the urine), haematospermia (blood in the semen), urinary incontinence, and erectile dysfunction. He currently serves as a substantive Consultant Urological Surgeon at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Mr. Mukherjee completed his surgical and urological training through the North East England Urological Rotation. During this period, he was awarded the prestigious Shear’s Northern Research Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England for his work in prostate cancer at Newcastle University. He has also undertaken International Clinical Observerships with world-renowned urological surgeon Professor Ash Tewari at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City, USA, and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), USA. He is currently a Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) Clinical Champion and has been recognised as a “Future Surgical Leader” by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. An active researcher and committed advocate for men’s health, Mr. Mukherjee has published extensively and presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. He has also secured multiple research grants to support his academic and clinical research endeavours. He is a contributor and supervisor for an AI (Artificial Intelligence)-based MRI reporting feasibility study across The Foundation Group Hospitals, reflecting his interest in innovation and the application of AI in urology. He serves as a Committee Member of the BAUS Audit and Steering Group and has been elected as a Panel Member for The Urology Foundation (TUF) Research and Education Committee, where he reviews grant applications and research award submissions. He is also an Associate Lecturer at the Three Counties Medical School, University of Worcester, contributing to undergraduate medical education. He was selected as an Associate Panel Member of EAU guideline development for Muscle-Invasive and Metastatic Bladder. He is a member of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), the European Association of Urology (EAU), Société Internationale d’Urologie (SIU) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
