For you do not have a Child Obesity clinic, how do you support this pathway, e.g. where are patients referred to?

Some obese children get referred to a general paediatric clinic or our paediatric endocrine clinic – we have a healthy weight (obesity) guideline and patient information leaflet that signposts families to support in the community. For severely obese children or obese children with a comorbidity which is related to their obesity, we book them into our Joint Endocrine Clinic which we do joint with a Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, with a view to them being booked into the Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) clinic at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
