Costs for overseas visitors

Request:

I am writing to you in my capacity as a researcher   to make a FOI request for anonymised data concerning charges made to overseas visitors for non-urgent care in the period from 1 January 2019 – 1 January 2024.

Please could you provide the data from your trust on the following:

• Nationality of patients charged during the stated time period
• Ethnicity of patients charged during the stated time period
• Invoice amount for all patient’s subject to charges.

Response:

Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust reviewed the directly chargeable invoices raised to overseas visitors between 1 January 2019 and 1 January 2024 for treatment noted as not considered urgent or immediately necessary, and the information we hold shows:

Total value of invoices: £20,195.00

Nationalities recorded for patients invoiced (please note we do not routinely record patient ethnicity for invoicing purposes):
