Maternity care complaints

I would like a breakdown of complaints relating to maternity care for the years 2019,2020,2021,2022,2023 and 2024 year to date. I would like to know the reason for the complaint and whether it was upheld.

*This relates to low numbers between 1 and 5. Under section 40 (ii) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, statistically low numbers that potentially identify personal data are required to be withheld because of the Trusts obligation to protect personal data under the Data Protection Act 2018

Due to confidentially we are unable to release data on individual cases but the main reasons for the complaints each year are.

2019 – Attitude of Nursing Staff/Midwives

2020 – Delay in induction of labour

2021 – Attitude of Nursing Staff/Midwives

2022 – Communication with patient

2023 – Attitude of Nursing Staff/Midwives

2024 – Attitude of Nursing Staff/Midwives

I would like to know how much compensation was paid to patients relating to maternity care in the 2019,2020,2021,2022,2023 and 2024 year to date from the Trusts budget not via NHS resolution.

All payments paid for claims are paid through The Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts paid by NHS Resolution not the Trust. The response is Nil

The Trust may pay ex gratia for loss property etc.

For 2022, 2023 and 2024 year to date I would like to know the reason for the compensation pay out. See above
