Pressure Ulcers as a % of total admissions

Request:

I want to submit a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please could you provide the following information for your Trust for the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24:

The total number of patients who developed pressure sores (also known as bed sores or pressure ulcers) during their stay.

This figure as a percentage of all patients admitted to beds at the trust.

The following table shows all incidents recorded on the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT) Datix system with the following details:

1. Category ‘Tissue Viability’ (TV)
2. Sub categories
3.  ‘Pressure ulcer acquired during care’
4. ‘Deteriorating pressure ulcer (non-evolvement) [discontinued Feb 2024]’
5. ‘Device related pressure ulcer acquired during care’
6. Category is 2 or higher

The figure used to calculate the % of TVs against admissions is the total of emergency and elective admissions across WHAT excluding Day Case patients
