  1. Does the trust work with translation services that translate healthcare information communications, e.g. leaflets, letters, posters etc? Yes, we work with a provider to support across interpretation and translation and individual departments print their own patient information.  
  • How many healthcare information leaflets/communications did the trust produce and print in FYE 2024? Managed by individual department. Individual departments print their own patient information if required

  • Which languages does the trust normally translate healthcare information communications into? The Trust translate across languages see below.
  • How are healthcare information communications delivered to patients that are visually impaired? The Trust have an alert system to inform our staff about the format that communication needs to be in – we can print letters in different font sizes and send audio files for example. We are supporting the new Patient Portal. Our website includes accessibility tools – including colour contrast/ ability to change text size.
  • What did the trust spend on translation services for healthcare communications in FYE 2024? The Trust do provide written translations and we also work with our WoW machines to support translations (and interpreting). We worked with one provider until August 30th 2023 and a separate provider from Sep. Sep-Feb end £6, 337 on written translation.
  • What did the trust spend on printing of healthcare communications in FYE 2024? This is not itemised on the Trust finance ledgers
  • Please provide the name of the person responsible for managing the creation of healthcare information communications? Patients Services Manager and Deputy Director of Communications.
  • Does the trust offer in-hospital way-finding or signage in any language other than English? The Trust work in partnership with AccessAble to support wayfinding across our hospitals and accessible guides are available in languages and audio/visual for example.
