VEP and ERG (easy read)

A VEP tests the nerve from your eye to your brain. An ERG tests that your eyes are working properly

At home

Wash your hair

If you wear glasses, bring them with you

Take medication as normal

Bring a list of medication

At the hospital

You will sit in a comfy chair and relax

Wires will be put on your head with a paste

You will look at a black and white pattern on a screen

If you need ERG, a very thin thread will be put in your eye

You will sit in the dark for 20 minutes   

You will look at some flashing lights in a bowl

The test will take 1 to 2 hours

You will feel fine after the test

When the test is finished, you can go home
