Test information

A positive result is strongly associated with coeliac disease. This assay is done by IIF and is used as a confirmatory laboratory test following a positive IgA-TTG antibody. The gold standard for diagnosis of coeliac disease still remains a tissue diagnosis whilst on a gluten diet. Endomysial antibodies may be falsely negative in very mild gluten induced enteropathy or in patients on a gluten free diet.
