Test information

PCR test for the direct detection of Chlamydia trachomatis to aid diagnosis in symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. Tests performed in a UKAS Accredited Medical Laboratory No. 8873.

Guidelines

Pre-analytical

Urine testing is recommended to be performed on first catch urine specimens. If collection kit is used ensure the top of the liquid level is between the two black lines on the Cobas PCR media tube label window.

Special requirements

Please telephone the microbiology department to notify us of any medico-legal specimens (for example in cases of alleged sexual assault) prior to sample dispatch. These samples must be accompanied by a laboratory chain of evidence form and be hand delivered to the duty senior biomedical scientist. Please do NOT leave these samples at specimen reception.
