Test information

Assessment of Calcium homeostasis. Levels are also measured in patients with CKD Stage 3b and above or on renal dialysis, to monitor tertiary hyperparathyroidism which develops in this condition. Levels may also be elevated in hypocalcaemia secondary to Vitamin D deficiency, and levels fall to normal once this is corrected.
