Test information

Thyroglobulin is a binding protein for thyroid hormones within the thyroid gland matrix. Evaluation and management of patients treated for thyroid cancer with surgery and radioiodine, and receiving thyroid hormone therapy. Measurement of thyroglobulin is of no value in the initial diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Thyroglobulin antibodies are measured at the same time to evaluate if any assay interference is present.
