Our Virtual Fracture Clinic is a safe and effective way of examining your injury by reviewing your X-ray results and the initial assessment from the Emergency Department (A&E). This will be done within 72 hours of your visit to the Emergency Department.

The assessment and test results from when you attended the Emergency Department or Minor Injury Unit will be reviewed by a senior orthopaedic doctor who will come up with a plan of care for your injury.

There are four possible outcomes from the consultation:

  1. You will be sent written guidance on how to manage your recovery from your injury.
  2. The Fracture Clinic Co-ordinator will contact you via telephone to discuss your injury further.
  3. You will be contacted via telephone or post and offered a face-to-face appointment in the Fracture Clinic for further treatment.
  4. For urgent cases, you may be asked to attend the Fracture Clinic the same or following day.

Please note that face-to-face appointments are offered for specific clinics, to ensure that you will be assessed by the most appropriate specialist. As such, we cannot be flexible with your appointment time, date or location.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or queries regarding your care on:

Our working hours are between 7am and 3pm, Monday to Friday, but we have an answerphone that’s checked daily during working hours. If it is more urgent or over the weekend, please contact your local Minor Injuries Unit or Emergency Department.
