Location

The Library & Education Centre is on Level 3 of the Kidderminster Treatment Centre.

From the main entrance, turn right, go past the cafe and take the first lift on the right up to the 3rd floor. The Library & Education centre is on the left.

Opening hours

Monday – Friday: 9.00am – 4.00pm 

Stock

There are approximately 2000 books on site, which are classified by subject. They cover a range of clinical and non-clinical areas, including nursing, mental health, ophthalmology, management, elderly care and general practice.

There are 4 PCs and a table available for quiet study.

Laptops can be used. There is wireless WHITS connection available in the library and throughout the Education Centre. Headphones can be borrowed from the library help desk.

We have an MFD (Multi-Functional Device) in the centre, located just outside Room 2.

We also have a self-service kiosk to loan and return physical items from the library.

How to book a room
We use BookWise to manage our site bookings.

Once you have filled in your booking details, you will receive confirmation, terms and conditions of using the education centre and reminders of your bookings to your e-mail address.
Please contact the team should you need to cancel or have a query with your booking.

If you fail to show for your booking, the room may be released so others can use it, you will lose your slot and will need to re-book.


Please be advised that we will be transitioning to a room-charge model from the 1st July 2026 for all external bookings to the Education Centre meeting rooms (Rooms 1-4) (for non Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust bookings).

The charges implemented will be used to support the maintenance and upkeep of the education centre.

Bookings from externals that include Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust staff e.g. training sessions or meetings, will be exempt from external charges.

Rooms available

  • Room 1 – 40-seater seminar room with induction loop system, networked computer, laptop connection, wall speakers, amplifier, overhead ceiling mounted projector, whiteboard and flipchart and lectern. 2 folding tables
  • Room 2 – 40-seater seminar room with networked computer, laptop connection, overhead ceiling mounted projector, whiteboard and flipchart. 2 folding tables.

Upon request, in advance, rooms 1 & 2 can be merged to create one larger space. This does require advanced notice to organise the removal of the partition wall. Please make sure you add this to the booking request.

  • Room 3 – Flip-top tables set up boardroom style to seat 20. Room has networked computer, laptop connection, overhead ceiling mounted projector, whiteboard and flipchart.
  • Room 4 – An ‘L’ shaped IT Training Room with 6 networked workstations, an overhead ceiling mounted projector, whiteboard and flipchart. There is also an area with 4 tables and chairs to seat 8 suitable for small meetings.

There is also a water dispenser in the education centre. We encourage the use of re-fillable water bottles.

On the hospital site we have the following facilities available:

There are toilet facilities, including an accessible toilet in the education centre.

Wellbeing area

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity and NHS Charities Together have funded dedicated staff wellbeing spaces and the Kidderminster wellbeing space can be found within the Education Centre/Library area.

We recognise that it is really important for you to have easy access to a calm and quiet space if you are faced with difficult circumstances at work or if you are feeling stressed, anxious or in need of some time alone to recharge.

Parking facilities and disabled access

The staff car park to the rear of the hospital can be used by staff with the relevant car park pass.

The car park at the front of the hospital can also be used charges apply.

A lift is available in the Treatment Centre (turn right when you enter the Main Entrance).

Wheelchair access is also available.
